On the ancient plain of Oia, in the island of Santorini, the winery of DOMAINE SIGALAS is located. Here, the most vibrant variety of the Mediterranean zone, Santorini’s Assyrtiko as well as Aidani, Athiri, Mandilaria and Mavrotragano express the island’s unique terroir and with a proper respect to their organoleptic characteristics, the qualitative wines produced receive acclaim in international competitions, both in Greece and abroad.
The company was founded in 1991, under the name SIGALAS WINERY Ltd. The winery was initially located in the traditional canava of the Sigalas family. In 1998, a new production, bottling and ageing facility was constructed, in a privately owned area. Since then, and after continuous investment in modernization and expansion of the vineyards and the facilities, the company has a processing and bottling production capacity of 400,000 bottles annually.
Since 2002, Domaine Sigalas started creating experimental vineyards of 29 hectares, applying modern viticultural practices, by planting the autoctonous cultivars, such as Assyrtiko, Aidani, Athiri and Mavrotragano. Nowadays the total surface of our vineyards is 25 hectares and the total production reaches 300.000 bottles annually.
