KARADIMOS FAMILY

Hall: B - Stand #: 72

Karadimos family produces high end hand made wines, for the icon and ultra premium market segment, from indigenous grapes varieties grown exclusively in family owned organically farmed vineyards.

Imagination and innovation on biodiversity tracks is our philosophy. This is translated to multi clone vine cultivation through a quality orientated prisma on individual vineyards, our own isolated yeast collection and the use of high percentage hand made winery equipment.

Products Profile:

1. PALEOKASTRA 2016
Dry, highly aromatic white wine with fresh stone fruit and citrus blossom aromas. It has full body with an elegant balance between medium (+) alcohol and high refreshing acidity. Intense stone fruit and citrus blossom flavors, spring around a deep mineral backbone, creating a charm and complex fruity aftertaste. This is a wine from totally healthy organic farming Malagouzia grapes from the limestone, clay (active Ca+2 more than 30%) Paleocastra vineyard. Hand picked and sorted grapes undergone through temperature controlled alcoholic fermentation into 35hl stainless steel vats. Matured on fine lees for 6 months with short intervals stirring, without malolactic transformation and any use of oak.

2. ALBA VISSA 2015
The ALBAVISSA wine has been produced from fully ripe Assyrtiko grapes from our 15 y.o, family owned single vineyard named “palaiokastra”(means the old castle) – “Vissa” at the time of Homer. The ungrafted low yielding vines of Assyrtiko are growing in low fertility limestone – clay soils with almost 30% active Ca+2. The 2015 growing season may be described as a cold winter(provided plenty of rainfall deposit water), a cool to cold healthy spring and a warm summer one without heat picks. All these annual elements led to a prolonged rippening period and resulted in concentrated fruit that was vinified in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. No oak, no malo treatments during an 24 months fine lees stirring under a vortex regime. The ALBAVISSA wine is physically stabilized.

3. DRIOS 2015
Dry, highly aromatic white wine with fresh tropical and citrus blossom aromas. It has full body with an elegant balance between 13,5% vol and high refreshing acidity. Intense tropicalfruit and citrus blossom flavors, spring around an elegant oaky backbone based overa mineral depth, creating a long and complex aftertaste. This is a wine from totally healthy organic farming Malagouzia grapes from the stony, clay Geromoshos vineyard. Hand picked and sorted grapes undergone through temperature controlled alcoholic fermentation into 50% 500l and 50% 228l new oak barrels. Matured on fine lees for 6 months with short intervals stirring, without malolactic transformation.

4. HILIA STAFILIA 2016
The marriage of the indigenous charmy diva Malagouzia with the International aromatic locomotive Sauvignon blanc, creates an expressive and aromatic wine. Aromas and flavors of spring flowers, stone and tropical fruit dominate on this medium body, refreshing and balanced unoaked wine.
